Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
